Boucheron has opened its sparkling new boutique in Abu Dhabi, which takes pride of place in Galleria Mall. The 204-square-metre boutique evokes the warmth of a family home, inviting clients to explore the Maison’s iconic collections – from Quatre to Serpent Bohéme – alongside a selection of dazzling high jewellery pieces within comforting surrounds.
The space is inspired by Boucheron’s Place Vendôme address: art-deco accents, vintage furniture, traditional fabrics and contemporary artwork replicate Parisian home comforts. One such artwork is a collaboration between Boucheron and Emirati artist Yasmin Al Mulla that marries the codes of the Maison with interpretations of Al Mulla’s homeland.“The artwork embodies the essence of both worlds through form, material and meaning,” Al Mulla explains. “It draws inspiration from the Maison’s iconic Quatre Grosgrain motif, subtly echoed in the lines of the piece itself – reinterpreted through desert-inspired waves that reflect the rhythm, movement and serenity of the UAE’s landscape.” The Grosgrain motif, one of the codes of the Quatre collection, was reinvigorated from 19th-century archives and can be traced to the House’s couture origins.
The artwork celebrates the connection between couture and art, honouring both as means of expression. “Both couture and art are rooted in emotion, precision and storytelling. Each begins with an idea; a vision translated through meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful detail,” says Al Mulla. “In couture, every stitch carries intention; in art, every line conveys meaning.”
