During the weekend of October 20th to 22nd, the French fashion house presented an exhibition as part of the annual art fair in the capital. Original artworks were showcased alongside collaborations between artists and the brand, while Louis Vuitton unveiled the fifth edition of its Artycapucines collection.
A new immersion at Paris+ by Art Basel for Louis Vuitton. While in 2022, the Maison introduced the fair's audience to a display of 43 pieces related to its heritage, this year they renewed their partnership with the event. Through this new participation, the couture brand aimed to highlight its deep connection to creative culture. From October 20th to 22nd at the Grand Palais Éphémère, Louis Vuitton welcomed visitors to a space rich in storytelling and meticulously decorated.
From the outside, the exhibition took the form of a massive trunk, directly referencing the Copper Mailbox created by Pharrell Williams for the Spring-Summer 2024 men's line. This particular model is also the centerpiece of a presentation until February 17, 2024, at the Louis Vuitton family house gallery in Asnières. Upon entering the space, visitors could appreciate the walls adorned with the crisscross pattern that lines the inside of the trunks.
While Louis Vuitton recently collaborated with Atelier Akrivia on a co-branded watch, they brought together various works from artists over the past weekend. This included a bag and canvas created in partnership with Takashi Murakami, travel trunks reimagined by Damien Hirst, and the Alma bag with a varnished finish by Stephen Sprouse. This selection was complemented by original works from several creators. Three paintings by Richard Prince, a painting by Refik Anadol created from AI data and titled "Finding LV," a painting by Takashi Murakami, and seven works by Yayoi Kusama, exhibited for the very first time, were part of the exhibition.
Louis Vuitton took advantage of its presence at Paris+ by Art Basel to unveil five new bags from the Artycapucines collection. Artists Ewa Juszkiewicz, Liza Lou, Tursic & Mille, Ziping Wang, and Billie Zangewa reimagined the Capucines it-bag, following in the footsteps of their peers over the past four years.
