All the best watch flexes from the 2025 Baftas

GQ

16 Feb 2025

As is always the case at these fancy awards ceremonies, A-list guests owned the opportunity to a) scrub up all nice and fancy, and b) unleash their favourite wrist candy from the safe for one night only. For the horology obsessed, celebrity watch spotting is a serious business – eyes are perennially peeled preying on any watch that's peering out from underneath a cuff. For everyone else, it's a good excuse to learn more about our cinematic idols through the watches they choose to splurge salaries on.

So for the award that'll means the most to watch nerds: the nominees for best watch flex at the 2-2025 BAFTAs are:

Sebastian Stan wears Cartier
The jury made the call that Stan's Donald Trump impersonation wasn't quite as good as Brody's Brutalist turn. While it probably saved us all some nonsense messages on Trump's Truth Social platform, Stan can at least head home knowing his yellow gold Tank Française was greatly appreciated – made all the more of a flex thanks to 27 blingy diamonds flanking both sides of the case.

James Norton wears Rolex
Er, hello James Norton's wrist! Is that a discontinued Rolex Oyster Perpetual 34mm we spy? Or could it even be a special 36mm OP x Domino's version? We think it's the former, which is marketed as a lady's watch – the numerals at 3, 6 and 9 being the giveaway. OPs are lowkey one of the most sought after grails in the game, so kudos to Norton for getting his hands on this one.

Jeremy Strong wears Richard Mille
Strong wrist game from Strong, as per. Whatever his fascination with Richard Mille watches is, long may it continue. On a chilly winter's night in London, Succession's bigger loser is our biggest winner in the watch stakes with this not-often-seen-in-the-wild RM 63-01 Automatic Winding Dizzy Hands that first debuted 10 years ago.

Simon Pegg wears Zenith
Another surprise spot, Pegg out there representing Zenith, LVMH's most unsung watchmaker, is a lovely sight to behold. While the dial pattern on his Defy Skyline Chronograph 42mm kinda matches his suit, we do wonder whether Pegg knows about Zenith's famous attic anecdote – because without it he wouldn't be wearing that watch.

Dev Patel wears Cartier
Dev Patel is all class, always has been ever since he got the bad behaviour out of his system in Skins back in the day. Walking the BAFTA red carpet as a nominee thanks to his directorial debut for Monkey Man, it's fitting he marked the special occasion with a special Cartier Tank Normale from 1973.

Orlando Bloom wears Porsche Design
Twelve days into his new gig as a new ambassador for Porsche Design, Bloom is off the mark with a subtle but notable pose that gives his titanium Porsche Design Chronograph 1 Automatic Watch just the right amount of airtime. It's one that shows he's keen to do his job well but aint going to overdeliver with any of those ‘fist clenched, look at my wrist’ poses.

Will Sharpe wears Montblanc
Sharpe was repping the A Real Pain crew tonight as he played third wheel to Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin in the film. He'll be stoked to see both pick up gongs, just as we're stoked to see Sharpe match his manicure with a Montblanc Star Legacy Moonphase & Date. At 36mm, fair to say Sharpe has found the optimal case size for himself.

James McAvoy wears IWC
This is not James McAvoy's first red carpet rodeo. He hits the spot every time, and has been doing so for, like, ever. Indeed, it's 20 years since he became the first recipient of BAFTA's Rising Star award. Shout out to David Jonsson for winning it this year but back to McAvoy – we love that he has our heads spinning at the sight of this IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44 on his wrist. One of the most hyped watches of 2024, it's great to see one out in the wild.

Jeff Goldblum wears Vacheron Constantin
Never is an opportunity missed when it comes to Goldblum. He was wicked in Wicked (sorry but he was) and the aura that emanates from him could not be translated into watch form better than this white gold creative version of Vacheron Constantin's Égérie. Dainty, magical and wonderfully camp, there is nothing not to love.

Guy Pearce wears Omega
It wasn't to be for Pearce in his supporting actor category but nonetheless he was spotted lots throughout the awards as he played the role of chief cheerleader to The Brutalist cast and crew – being the first person to hug Adrien Brody and director Brady Corbet when they each won. On both occasions his steel Omega Speedmaster ’57 – on a blue leather strap to match his Brunello Cucinelli tux – received a health bit of airtime.

Will Poulter wears Hublot
For so long Poulter has been an Omega guy so it's always fun when someone as particular as the GOTG actor goes and pivots to something totally different. Wearing this Hublot Classic Fusion on his right wrist gives him a bit more mysterious bad boy energy – perhaps it's the black magic nature of the piece. Next time Will, we're happy to throw some destro watch ideas your way.
